The philosophy behind our arrows

Every ranged weapon is only as good as the projectile – regardless of whether it fires a bullet (such as a rifle or pistol) or an arrow (such as a crossbow or vertical bow). If the arrow or ammunition is of a poor quality, it is difficult to make good hits.



With the AR-6 Stinger II platform, the arrow determines the accuracy and penetration to a large degree. At the same time, proper arrows are also important for the reliability and functioning of the entire crossbow. One more reason to think carefully before making a choice.



There are different tip types for different applications. Broadheads with sharp blades for hunting, bodkin and warbolt points based on historical designs and made of hardened tool steel, and CNC turned field points for target practice.



In addition, the arrow weight must be matched to the draw weight. The light arrows are ideal for draw weights from 35 to 75 lb while the heavy arrows are designed for draw weights from 90 to 150 lb.



This is why we offer our AR Series arrows in two fundamental variants: our light arrows with a carbon shaft and our heavy arrows with a hybrid carbon/aluminum shaft.

Our Target Arrows are optimized for maximum precision and meet all the needs of an ambitious target shooter. They are matched to our limbs and allow repeatable tight shot groupings. The good characteristics of these carbon arrows shine especially at longer distances.



Our Bodkin Arrows were developed for extreme penetration and terminal effect. Thanks to the carbon shaft and the hardened tool steel tip, these arrows are not only able to penetrate hard targets, but are also extremely robust. No matter what draw weight you use, and at very short distances, you must be sure to use a suitable target medium.



Our Hunting Arrows offer extreme penetration and wounding ability. At weights of up to 238 grains for the heavy variant – which features an especially robust carbon fiber, aluminum, and stainless-steel construction – they have plenty of mass. Our light arrows offer a very flat trajectory while the heavy Hunting Arrows offer greater penetrating ability and can thus also pass through larger game. The significant bleeding prevents the animal from traveling any great distance, and the blood trail is easy to find.



Our Warbolts are designed for archers looking for a robust and reusable hunting arrow (and who are prepared to accept some degree of compromise in wounding ability). Compared with conventional hunting arrows, these arrows have a greater effect against hard surfaces as well and carry significant momentum into the target.

AR-series carbon-target arrows

Ambitious target shooters demand repeatable results and as little wear on their materials as possible. The focus is on regular practice, and the goal is the greatest possible precision and accuracy in competitions.We have optimized our Target Arrows for these requirements. Highly precise flight characteristics, a weight matched to our limbs, a very robust design, and a point that does as little damage to the target as possible. Our arrows also feature a very appealing visual design – in the case of the Target Arrows a blue anodized aluminum ring, carbon shaft, and CNC turned stainless steel field point.Our Target Arrows are designed to be reused countless times, provided they are fired into a suitable target medium and provided the archer takes care to avoid striking an arrow in the target by firing another arrow into it.

AR-Series – carbon-bodkin arrows

The Bodkin Arrows with the black coding ring have a sharp point made of hardened tool steel and are heavier than our Target Arrows. The higher weight and hardened point give these arrows considerable penetrating ability. Even though they have no blades, these arrows cause considerably more serious wounds than Target Arrows. That and the ability of these arrows to penetrate targets particularly well makes them especially dangerous. This means that extreme care must be exercised when using bodkin arrows, and better target media are needed.Note that the sharp edges on these arrow points actually cut the target medium, and that Bodkin Arrows thus wear targets out significantly faster than our Target Arrows. Because of this, we do not recommend these arrows for regular practice.The somewhat higher weight means that these arrows cause less stress to the limbs. The color code is provided by a black anodized aluminum ring, and the arrow shaft is made of carbon.

The heavy Bodkin Arrows (marked by an additional stainless-steel ring) are designed for our limbs with higher draw weights (90 to 120 lb). They have a high-quality aluminum nock and a hybrid carbon/aluminum shaft, meaning there is an aluminum core running inside the carbon shaft. This complex structure offers outstanding flight characteristics and makes the arrows extremely robust. At a weight of 228 grains, these arrows are considerably heavier than most pistol crossbow arrows and strike their target with high momentum. They can more easily penetrate hard target materials like metal sheeting or glass.

Note: Hunting Arrows are primarily a single-use product because they typically pass through the game animal and are destroyed or heavily damaged when they strike the ground or a tree. Because of this, these arrows are approved for higher draw weights relative to the arrow weight than other arrows.

AR-Series – carbon-warbolts

Just like our Hunting Arrows, our Warbolts are fitted with a blade. But unlike our Hunting Arrows, these tips are based on historical arrow point designs. The designation “warbolt” comes from the fact that points of exactly this type were used in long-ago wars. They are considerably more robust than Hunting Arrows and offer much better penetration through hard materials (for example metal armor in a historical context) than the less robust Hunting Arrows thanks to the heavy forged and hardened point. This means that the arrows can be reused more times, and that they are not as susceptible to damage. At the same time, the cutting edges on these arrows are not nearly as sharp as on our Hunting Arrows and also cannot be sharpened to such a fine edge due to the blade geometry. If your primary concern is having robust arrows, then our Warbolts are your best choice.

Attention: These arrows, despite having cutting edges that are not as sharp, cut with ease through leather, hide, and tissue and cause heavy bleeding. A single hit with such an arrow can easily cause mortal wounds, so extreme caution must be exercised when using them.

The predecessors of aluminum

AR-Series – Alu-target arrows

Our practice arrows with blue anodized aluminum shafts are ideal for starting out with tactical crossbow shooting and are suited to low draw weights (our 35 lb and 55 lb limbs). Thanks to their somewhat lower weight, these arrows have a comparatively flat trajectory and lower penetration, which is ideal for recreational shooting and shorter distances.When they were introduced together with the AR-6 Stinger II in 2019, these arrows were a quantum leap in pistol crossbow arrows and set an entirely new quality benchmark. Since then, we have added higher draw weights to the family, and these arrows are too light for these bows. But they are very good for somewhat weaker pistol crossbows up to an 80 lb draw weight.

Note: It is easy to bend these bolts when pulling them out of the target. Shots at very short distances or into targets that are too hard can also deform the shafts. Bent shafts cause poor accuracy, and can cause malfunctions and dry fires. Bent arrows must be straightened or discarded in any case.

AR-Series – Alu-bodkin arrows

The black anodized bodkin arrows have a sharp point and are significantly heavier than the aluminum practice arrows. The higher weight and hardened point give these arrows considerable penetrating ability. Even though they have no blades, they cause considerably more damage than practice arrows. This combined with their ability to penetrate targets very effectively makes these arrows highly dangerous. This means that greater care must be exercised when using bodkin arrows, and better targets are needed. We expressly advise against using DIY targets.The higher weight means that these arrows cause less stress to the limbs and end caps, and are very good for draw weights of 75 lb and more. And only these or heavier arrows are approved for use with our 90 lb limb.The arrow shaft can bend easily when striking hard targets or when fired from a short distance. This means that under frequent use, you must inspect the arrows for any bends and straighten them if needed. Bent arrows cause severe accuracy degradation, and can lead to malfunctions and dry fires.
